Francis J. DiBernardino, Managing Principal and Founder
Frank brings to Vienna more than 25 years of experience as a senior Human Resources advisor working with organizations in manufacturing, health care, pharmaceuticals, transportation, financial services, publishing and academia, among others. Recognized as a trusted advisor to executive management, Frank has deep expertise in corporate benefit and compensation program strategic planning for large and mid-size organizations. He is skilled in helping client organizations link rewards (compensation and benefits) to organizational objectives, maximize the value of their investment in rewards, and craft customized solutions to unique problems. His background includes strategic planning, client relationship management, consulting practice leadership, labor negotiations, underwriting, staff development, and management.
Most recently, Frank served as a principal at Mercer Human Resource Consulting, a $1 billion global human resource consulting firm. Frank was also a founding principal at Foster Higgins, a preeminent employee benefit consulting firm.
During his career, Frank served as the national practice leader in both Health & Welfare and Flexible Compensation practices and developed sophisticated strategic planning tools to enable clients to reliably measure the impact of benefit alternatives. A creative and resourceful thinker, Frank pioneered the concept of Personal Financial Security as the overarching theme for a 10-year public policy strategic plan adopted by The American Benefits Council. Frank served on the Board of Directors of the American Benefits Council and the Employers Council on Flexible Compensation.
Tom Clardy Ph.D., Principal
Tom Clardy is an accomplished executive with over thirty years of experience leading the global human resource functions at several market leading companies. Prior to joining Vienna, Tom served as Senior Vice President of Human Resources at QVC, the world’s leading electronic and Internet retailer. Tom also held executive roles at Wheaton Industries, Inc., a premier specialty glass and plastics manufacturer, and at direct response pioneer, The Franklin Mint. Tom is known for his warm leadership style, personal integrity and the ability to apply practical wisdom to business issues, thinking beyond the norm to develop innovate and cost effective solutions. His executive roles together with his natural leadership style, give him the unique ability to be as effective in the Board Room as he is on the shop floor.
Tom is an engaging and accessible presenter who has shared his knowledge and experiences through presentations most recently at SHRM, the Wharton Council for industrial Relations at the University of Pennsylvania, The Philadelphia Wellness Council and the Chester County SHRM. He has also served as adjunct faculty at Widener University and Neumann College.
Tom is a highly regarded executive coach and mentor with a deep understanding of what it takes to be a leader of both individuals and of organizations. Tom was awarded the HR person of the year Award in 2003 and his department received the HR Department of the year award in 2006. Tom is a Certified Master Executive Coach, a senior member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and a member of the Institute for Global Ethics. Tom also serves on various boards and committees of several non-profit community organizations.
Tom holds an undergraduate degree from Philadelphia University, an MBA from Widener University and a Ph.D. from Southwest University.
Adrianne Miller, Principal
Adrianne has over 25 years of strategic and practical human resources experience and has served in HR leadership roles in the life sciences, logistics and supply chain, biotechnology and information technology services industries.
Adrianne has the proven ability to achieve results and establish programs and processes that work in concert to support the strategic objectives, values and unique culture of an organization. A process-oriented business person, Adrianne has a “keep it simple” philosophy, always looking beyond the status quo for ways to do things better.
As head of Human Resources for Decision One, a technology support services company, Adrianne established a total realignment of compensation systems, redesign of compensation plans at all levels and implemented customer interaction and lead generation skills for all field technicians to support stabilization of this organization in need of turnaround.
Adrianne also served as Senior Vice President, HR-North America for VWR International, Inc, a leading worldwide provider of laboratory products and services to the industrial, government, life science, education, electronics and pharmaceutical markets. As VWR’s top HR Executive, Adrianne worked closely with the senior team to grow the organization from $250 million to $2.8 billion and a position of industry leadership. At VWR Adrianne provided direction and support through several successful change initiatives and major transitions, including acquisitions, consolidations, restructurings, and process improvement initiatives.
Prior to VWR Adrianne was with Collagen Corporation, a Palo Alto, California biotechnology start-up. Adrianne began her career in accounting and finance and transitioned to human resources at McKesson Corporation.
Adrianne currently serves on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and WorldatWork. An accredited Certified Compensation Practitioner, Adrianne serves as an editorial board member for the Employer Resource Institute’s California Employer Advisor publication.
Adrianne holds a degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Baruch College, City University of New York and continued her studies in Human Relations and Organizational Behavior at the University of San Francisco.
Susan Lichtman, Business Development
Susan has a long-established and successful career in marketing and selling professional services. Her ability to motivate and manage people, as well as her consistency in meeting or exceeding business goals, distinguishes Susan as an accomplished business leader and trusted advisor to senior management.
Among Susan’s most noteworthy accomplishments is achieving the first national endorsement from the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) to provide benefits consulting to its 1,100 member companies. This has earned her national recognition as a leader in the development of employee benefit solutions for the biotech industry.
Before affiliating with Vienna Human Capital Advisors, Susan served as Vice President of Business Development at Wachovia Insurance Services, where she led a national employee benefits consulting team. Prior to Wachovia, she was Vice President of the Employee Benefits Group for the Pennsylvania office of global insurance broker Willis Group Holdings. This was the linchpin that established her distinction in the area of employee benefits.
Throughout her career, Susan has demonstrated a solid ability to zero in on client needs and provide intelligent, high-impact solutions. As a regional director in charge of sales operations, management, and P&L for the national staffing company Careers USA, Susan repeatedly exceeded client expectations. Additionally, her past experience includes leading national marketing efforts for Opinion Research Corporation and Hay Group’s Research for Management division.
Michael K. McClure Ph.D.
Director of Research
Co-Inventor of The Vienna Human Capital Performance Index™
Dr. Michael McClure is Vienna’s Director of Research and Co-Inventor of The Vienna Human Capital Performance Index. With his extensive background in strategic human resources, research, and statistics, Dr. McClure worked in conjunction with Frank DiBernardino to develop a business intelligence tool designed for HR executives, the C-suite and Boards of Directors. He created the Vienna Index™ to provide a credible connection between the investment in human capital and business performance, and to address questions from the executive suite about what drives business results.
Dr. McClure was instrumental in developing the Index’s financially-based formulas for HCROI, Productivity and Profit Sensitivity–– innovative formulas in the HR space because they use only standardized, auditable data sourced from an organization’s financial system.
Prior to affiliating with Vienna HCA, Dr. McClure worked in the areas of compensation and benefits, mergers and acquisitions, and HRIS at several well-established corporations, including Campbell Soup Company, PECO, and Virtua Health. Before establishing his career in HR, he held professorships in the discipline of psychology at several colleges and universities. Additionally, Dr. McClure served as a research investigator at the University of Pennsylvania.
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate, Dr. McClure received his B.S. in Psychology from Tulane University, and his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
